Heit became part of an organized campaign that continues still to convert the 1960s slogan power to the people into quotas for unqualified and undeserving black people. A little bit on this Selection Process a number of changes which are then built into a great number of map options. Those map options were combined, presented by the consultant to the working group of command Staff Members who then ranked the order and talked through it and came up with a group of final recommendations which they presented to the Steering Committee who selected the map which is in front of you today. What we see here is the final citywide map proposed and we are here today at this Public Meeting as well as the one in the future to hear what the public has to say about these ideas before the districting changes. We are, we are talking about valuing the diversity. Were able to effectively communicate with people of different backgrounds rather its race, class, gender, sexualty, ethnicity or religion. In valuing the diversity, its what institutions and members of communities do to acknowledge the benefits of their differences and, of course, of their similarities. Understanding the value of bringing people together of varying points of view and life expressions. Black history is a time of rejoyousing and celebrating and thanking those African Americans who have contributed so much to our country and our city. Black History Month is a time we should stand and be able to be reminded about what it is to be an american. So with that, i would like to welcome you all to the Peoples Chamber as we begin to celebrate todays black history celebration. I would like to also call your attention to todays theme being living black history. Its important to note that in many ways we are still forging forward in
