Anambra 2021: PDP crisis deepens as 2 candidates emerge

By Sun Jun 27 2021 The crisis in the People’s Democratic Party in Anambra deepened on Saturday with the emergence of two candidates from parallel primaries held by two factions of the party ahead of the November 6 2021  governorship election in the state. Ugochukwu Uba and Valentine Ozigbo emerged as candidates from the two factions. One of the factions led by Chukwudi Umeaba held its primary election at the St Paul’s Primary and secondary school Awka where Uba, elder brother of  Chris Uba, emerged as a candidate. While the other held its election at Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development  Centre, Awka where Ozigbo, former Chief Executive Officer  CEO of Transcorp, emerged as its flag bearer.

PDP Clears all 16 Anambra Governorship Aspirants

Chuks Okocha in Abuja The Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (PDP) Screening Committee that vetted all the 16 governorship aspirants for the June 6 primary election has submitted its report on Wednesday, which cleared all the aspirants. Moreover, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP has also approved the appointment of the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseke, as the chairman of the e-registration planning committee. The screening committee was headed by the former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Idris Wada. Some of the aspirants cleared include Ms. Uche Ekwunife, Mr. Obiora Okonkwo, Mr. Chris Azugbogu, Mr. Winston Udeh, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, Mr. Godwin Ezeemo and Mr. Emeka Etiaba.

Anambra Guber: PDP generates N356m from sale of forms On By Dirisu Yakubu – Abuja This is certainly a good time for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as 16 aspirants indicated interest in the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra state on the platform of the party. The aspirants made up of thirteen men and three women, yesterday, faced the screening committee constituted by the party to clear them for the November 6 primaries. The party had earlier pegged the expression of interest form at N1 million, compliance form at N5 million, and nomination form at N20 million. Vanguard reports that the PDP in line with its affirmative action to encourage women to seek elective office, waved nomination fee for all female aspirants meaning that the three ladies paid a total sum of N18 million only, being payment for obtaining expression of interest and compliance forms.

PDP Commences Screening of Aspirants for Anambra Guber Election

By Chuks Okocha The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday commenced the screening of its aspirants for the Anambra State governorship election ahead of its primaries scheduled for June 26, 2021. The screening, which is scheduled for yesterday and today, took place at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. Some of the guidelines for the screening exercise include up-to-date payment of three years tax, academic background with certified copy of academic credentials, work experience, and relationship with party in the state and stakeholders. The Screening Committee, chaired by former Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, pledged that the committee would follow the party’s guidelines and regulations for the screening exercise.
