The families of Obasi Udenwatu and Azi Chukwu of Inyi and Ezioha Mgbowo community respectively Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State have petitioned the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State command, over the burning of their houses by some members of their community. The families accused the suspended traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Gregory Ituma, and his cabinet member, Mr. Uchenna Okolo, as those who masterminded the burning of their houses, a development they said forced them to become internally displaced persons in their community.
The Enugu State government has suspended the traditional ruler of Ekpulato Mgbowo in the Awgu Local Government Area of the state, Igwe Greg Ituma. The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Dr Charles Egumgbe, on Saturday. SaharaReporters reliably gathered that the traditional ruler was arrested on Thursday, when the Nigerian Army in a joint operation with operatives of Department of State Services (DSS) and various police tactical squads invaded the community.
