Police begin manhunt as kidnappers abduct Ekiti farmer

Ekiti State police command on Sunday said it have begun a manhunt for the abductors of a farmer, Isaac Agbanigo who was kidnapped in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local government area of Ekiti State.
Agabnigo was said to have been abducted in the presence of his family members while returning home from his farm at Ajengbede, along Ikere-Ise road around 4 pm on Saturday.
The police, in a statement made available to newsmen, said it has launched an investigation into the matter to fast track quick rescue of the man from captivity.

The Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Mr. Babatunde Mobayo, has said the command is ready to enforce the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari against those carrying AK 47 rifles illegally.
Mobayo said the Police in Ekiti is resolute to restore peace between warring farmers and herdsmen, using the instrumentality of the law to arbitrate when necessary in order to halt ethnic tension in the state.
This came as the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ekiti chapter, agreed that the establishment of ranches will help in resolving the lingering crises between the two groups.

The Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Mr Babatunde Mobayo, has disclosed that Ekiti residents can report him to higher police authorities if he was seen not be handling cases involving herdsmen infringements on rights of the locals properly.
The Police Chief said this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado Ekiti held at the instance of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to find a lasting solution to farmers-herders clashes.
The CP gave assurance that no efforts will be spared to halt herders trespass on farmlands as well as ethnic clash in the state.
He explained that the Presidential order banning unauthorised people carrying AK-47 shall be pursued to the letter.
