CLEVELAND, Ohio An appeals court on Thursday ordered a man serving a nine-year prison sentence on a robbery conviction released from custody after determine prosecutors waited too long after his arrest in Florida to bring him to Cleveland to face trial.
A three-judge panel at the 8th District Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley’s office had 180 days after Johnny Jackson Jr. requested in August 2018 to be transferred from a Florida jail to Cleveland after his arrest on unrelated charges.

CLEVELAND, Ohio An appeals court on Thursday declined to reinstate former Cleveland police officer Timothy Loehmann, who shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014.
The city of Cleveland didn’t fire Loehmann for any action he took during the November 2014 killing of Rice, but rather for lying on his initial application about his reason for leaving his previous job at a suburban police department.
