Tim Melville is known for discovering and championing indigenous Australian and Māori and Pasifika artists. He sold his Ponsonby home to open his eponymous art gallery in 2007 and moved into a small, colourful home in Eden Terrace, Auckland.
Tim Melville is one of New Zealand s few
Māori gallerists. He feels it is a responsibility and great joy to champion
indigenous artists. He lives with his partner Tony in a two-bedroom home tucked beside a motorway in Eden Terrace, Auckland.
TIM: I was talking to a clairvoyant. It is not the sort of thing I would do at all, but I was at a crossroads in my life. She said, “I can see you selling up your house . you re going to be living in an area you wouldn t have thought of, in a house that is set well back from the road with a beautiful garden, and you re going to be very happy there.”
