death of george floyd. shifting resources from police elsewhere. now in minneapolis, a court order is reinforcing the opposite, saying the city must raise the number of officers it has and ensure they fund an employs force of at least 1.001 officers per resident by june 30, 2022, that s 730 officers, up from the current total. eight minneapolis residents filed a petition and were represented by the center right nonprofit law firm. this is where the defunding movement started. if we are successful as this court order indicates we should be, we hope that will inspire people around the country to take a similar step. reporter: the petition was filed in august 2020 because these residents said they no longer felt safe amid a rise in violent crime and believed a lack of police was the reason.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Eight Minneapolis police officers who fired their guns that killed an armed man outside a home during a domestic disturbance and one officer who filed a non-lethal round have been cleared of wrongdoing.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a release Monday that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigation showed that 52-year-old Chiasher Vue fired 13 shots from a semi-automatic rifle during the Dec. 15, 2019 incident, The report says most of the shots were aimed at police who had been called to the house by Vue’s adult son.

MINNEAPOLIS Eight Minneapolis police officers who fired their guns that killed an armed man outside a home during a domestic disturbance and one officer who fired a non-lethal round have been cleared of wrongdoing, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Monday.
Freeman said in a release that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigation showed that 52-year-old Chiasher Vue fired 13 shots from a semi-automatic rifle, most of them aimed at police who had been called to the house on Dec. 15, 2019 by Vue’s adult son. Vue was struck by 13 bullets, the report said.
