Punjab Arts Council launches book Mutaliat Hamd-o-Naat

A book launching ceremony titled “Mutaliat Hamd-o-Naat” by the well-known poet and critic Naseem-e-Sahar was held under the auspices of Punjab Council of the Arts in collaboration with Halqa-e-Ilm-o-Adab. The ceremony was presided over by Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Yousuf Khushk while Professor Dr Ehsan Akbar, Anjum Khaliq, Dr Fauzia Sehar Malik and Dr Farhat Abbas were included among guests of honour. The author of the book Naseem Sahar also gave a brief commentary on his book. Dr Yusuf Khushk, Chairman PAL gave a detailed account of Naseem Sahar’s book and termed the book an outstanding one. He expressed his hope that his creative journey would continue in future. A large number of people from literary circles participated in book launching ceremony. ‘Literature imperative for progress’

Islamabad : No society can progress in the right direction without knowledge and literature, said federal information technology secretary Shoaib Siddiqui on Thursday.
He was speaking to Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Dr. Yousuf Khushk during a visit to the PAL premises here. They discussed issues of mutual interest. The PAL chairman said the academy was working on a solid foundation for the promotion of literature and the welfare of writers.
He briefed the visitor about the activities under the PAL and future plans. Dr Yousuf said information technology was the need of the hour and no sector could progress without it. With the help of IT in modern times, we can run the PAL along modern lines, he said.
PAL celebrates Kashmir Day

Islamabad: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Thursday organied a national literary seminar on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghazala Saifi, Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Division/Member Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Affairs said that for 73 years, the subjugated but disenfranchised people of occupied Kashmir had been fighting the longest war of independence against the tyranny of India.
Dr. Yousuf Khushk, chairman, PAL said “you and all of us know that seven decades have passed and now the eighth decade is underway but the injustice and atrocities against the people of Kashmir are on the rise.” Dr Ehsan Akbar, Dr. Wahid Bakhsh Buzdar, Dr. Manzoor Weserio, Ayesha Masood Malik and Israr Ayub also spoke on the occasion.
