DOG MESS being left on and around graves in a west Cumbrian cemetery has been slammed by the town council. The cemetery in Egremont has been the subject of unseen hard work from its curator this week as he prepares it for Mothers Day on Sunday. But part of his duties have involved clearing dog mess from the paths – and in some cases the graves themselves – as careless owners are not cleaning up after their pets. Egremont Town Council has asked the public to show respect for the cemetery and its curator, Nelson Shepherd. A spokesperson said: “This is despicable behaviour and it is very upsetting for families. The council are therefore reminding the public that no dogs are allowed in Egremont Cemetery.
