MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – Motorists on Apple Avenue east of Muskegon may run into delays due to road work Wednesday.
Lane closures on eastbound Apple, which is M-46, are scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. April 28 in the area of Drent Road in Egelston Township, according to a notice from the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The closures are need for road work, according to MDOT.

MUSKEGON, MI – A sunny spring day turned tragic last week when two 12-year-old girls riding horses down a Muskegon County road were hit by a car.
Adriana Helsel and Layla Neiser survived with injuries, but their horses, Jack and Dottie, died in the April 5 crash that spawned fear, grief and an effort from a local woman to raise money for new horses.

2 girls in hospital after getting hit by car while riding horses

EGELSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. â Two 12-year-old girls are in the hospital after a car hit them while they were riding their horses Monday in Muskegon County.
It happened about 2 p.m. in the 1700 block of Barnes Road in Egelston Township, a news release said Tuesday.
A vehicle traveling northbound on Barnes Road, left the roadway, hitting the two girls on their horses before crashing into a building.
The driver of the vehicle told the Muskegon County Sheriffâs Office he fell asleep and is cooperating with the investigation.
