Leadership of Niger Delta Youth and hundreds of women yesterday issued a 28-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to inaugurate a new board for the Niger Delta Development (NDDC) or face their wrath.
According to them, failure by the Federal government to do the needful would lead to protests that the Government will regret like last year’s EndSARS protest. x
Speaking in Warri, Delta State, coordinator of the Youth council, Jator Abido said if the board is not inaugurated as demanded within that time, “we will have no option than to shut down the economy of the region to ensure that no proceed goes to the national treasury for sharing.”

A former president of Ijaw Youths Council, Worldwide, Udengs Eradiri, has called on youths from Ijaw extraction to shelve their planned protest to compel the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to inaugurate a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Eradiri, who is the Special Assistant on Youth Matters to the Interim Administrator of NDDC, Effiong Akwa, pleaded with the youths to drop the planned protest in view of the security situation in the country.
The ex-IYC president in a statement on Tuesday argued that such planned protest could worsen the security challenges the country was currently facing.
