The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned against social media inducements on recruitment opportunities into the Ghana Police Service.
A statement signed by Chief Inspector Bright Kwabena Danso of the Public Affairs Unit and copied the Ghana News Agency said the Unit was not responsible for recruiting people into the Service.
The “criminals” impersonated Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, Head of Public Affairs, mostly on Facebook, and inveigle gullible contacts into transferring monies into their mobile money accounts, it said.
The statement said other victims had also reported fraudulent vehicle auction transactions adding that all such reports had since been forwarded to the Cybercrime Unit of the National Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and arrest of the culprits.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Effia Tenge has disclosed that most often, the work of the Police is disrupted by interference from influential people such as media personalities and politicians.
She told Nana Romeo on Accra100.5FM’s mid-morning show, ‘Ayekoo Ayekoo’ on Tuesday, 18 May 2021 that most offenders have the habit of seeking the assistance of these influential people to help them escape punishment when they are caught.
Especially citing Okada riders, Mrs Tenge noted that most often these Okada riders run errands for these people who tend to interfere in the prosecution process.
Armed robbers, police in shootout at Kwashieman

The Police is on manhunt for two suspected armed robbers, who engaged the police in a shootout at Kwashieman, Accra, on Sunday.
The suspects, who suffered gunshot wounds during the shootout reportedly snatched a Toyota Yaris taxi cab with registration number GW8215-20 from its owner, at Lapaz, in Accra.
The Accra Regional Police Command, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, who disclosed these to the
Ghanaian Times, in Accra, yesterday, stated that the police were investigating the case.
She said last Sunday at about 1:30 am, police patrol team had information that a taxi cab had been snatched from its owner by armed robbers at Lapaz.
