As we stop putting our heads in the hand and think we are above everyone else it is shameful we have not done that. What will come behind that are reforms that will make a profound difference. Finally, what we have to do is demand from our elected leaders that they not simply be tough on crime, but they be smart, that they care about Public Safety and what we included Public Safety. Things like the health of our poorest and the quality of education and the opportunity for people to be safe and secure in the neighborhoods and communities. We have to ask the questions.
