Governor Hochul and Suffolk County Executive Bellone Announce Land Transfer to Bring National Offshore Wind Training Center to Suffolk County and Train New Yorkers for Green Jobs

Governor Kathy Hochul and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced the successful land transfer between New York State and Suffolk County to bring a National Offshore Wind Training Center to New York. The Governor also launched a $9 million competitive opportunity through the State's Offshore Wind Training Institute, led by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority in collaboration with the State University of New York Farmingdale State College and Stony Brook University, for expanded offshore wind workforce development and training initiatives to address workforce gaps and prepare New Yorkers for high-growth jobs in this growing industry.

Santa Fe College provost named president of Suffolk County Community College

Santa Fe College s Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Edward T. Bonahue, will leave Gainesville after 23 years at the school to become the seventh president of Suffolk County Community College on Long Island, New York. Bonahue, 55, is a native of Long Island, according to an online press release issued Monday by the New York school. He will remain at SF College a couple more weeks before heading north, said Jay Anderson, college spokesman. Bonahue first started at what was then then Santa Fe Community College in 1997 as a professor of humanities and theater, Anderson said. After moving up the ranks, he became associate vice president for academic affairs in 2008 and provost and vice president for academic affairs the following year.
