A key piece of Nailsea’s mining history - featured on the UK’s Heritage at Risk register - is to be safeguarded for generations to come.
North Somerset Council is working with Nailsea Town Council, Historic England and Nailsea Local History Society alongside other groups to secure the future of Middle Engine Pit - also known as the Elms Colliery.
A draft management plan has now been drawn up for the site with people being asked to share their views on how it can be preserved.
