I think that video probably helped to show that. It gives you an opportunity to see, and i think the news reels and things, the images on there, give you an opportunity to see what that was like. What the beginning of world war ii was like in europe, specifically, and of course in japan as well. At the beginning of the semester, i told you guys my mantra. I dont know if you remember that or not, but its all about perspective. Thats how i teach. Thats how i teach history. Thats my mantra when it comes to my own research and scholarship. Its all about perspective. When i talk to you about that at the beginning of the semester, i used world war ii as an example to illustrate that. Were going to come back to that now. The images you saw from the battlefield and from the bombings in europe, thats one perspective. If all you do is see that video, if all you do is hear the stories of the infantry men who were on the beaches in normandy. If all you do is talk about the impact of war on sailors
Were very fortunate hes giving us this lecture. That needs no an introduction and there is not an introduction i could do that ould be complete in the time allotted. But let me touch on some highlights if i may. With highest honors from stanford. He received 50 class honors with b. A. Degree in philosophy, politics and economics. He went to Harvard Law School excelled as editor of the law review. Clerked for justice goldberg. Acthiknowledges that he first draft o the of the griswald versus connecticut case. That are not ou lawyers, is the case that ecognized our right of marital privacy. After clerking for justice oldberg he worked for the department of justice. He taught at harvard in the law and kennedy government. He was in the judiciary to 1980 and m 1978 was nominated to president niner to the First Circuit days after carter had lost the 1980 election. On ad so impressed senators both sides of the aisle for the Judiciary Committee that he was 8010. Med took 14 years on the circuit
Remembering the brave women and men that started the National Organization for women. It was june of 1966 that they first got together. Since nobody, we do not have anyone living who was at the first meeting, at the washington hilton. No, second meeting. Come on. Here is some of the history here. There was a very active womens bureau and the department of labor. In 1966, the democrats were in charge, president kennedy had been elected. The women from labor and uaw and other unions are very active in the department of labor and the womens bureau was led by feminists and they persuaded the president to call a meeting of commissions on the status of women. There were many states, i do not know if all states have them, but the commissions on the status of women were kind of organizing that was going on in the states without a feminist movement to kind of pull everyone together. The commissions often served as a place where women met and came together. Kathryn clarenbach was the head of the

I was wondering if youre getting to members and freedom to distance themselves from the nominee or do what they need to do, and how much of a drag is the nominee going to be on the house ticket . They seldom if ever embrace their own and acknowledge the problems that Hillary Clinton brings to their ticket in their house races. Let me give you the data set. In the competitive races nearly every case Hillary Clintons numbers are worse and Donald Trumps in these competitive seats. We are running in individual districts, not statewide or nationwide. Incident predicated on the democratic side trying to tie a member to donald trump. It is easier to type democrat the Hillary Clinton and the failed policies of this last administration than it is to say one of our members or candidates is just like donald trump. Ev
