From the Austin Metro to royal bracelets: how Prince Philip championed elegant design The Duke of Edinburgh leaves behind a legacy via his designers prize – as well as more personal indications of his artistic passion 14 April 2021 • 5:00am This bracelet, made by Boucheron to Prince Philip s design, was a gift for the Queen on their fifth wedding anniversary in 1952 Credit: The Royal Collection / PA The Duke of Edinburgh, so often caricatured as abrupt and no-nonsense, isn’t your first thought when you consider the supposed whims and fancies of creativity. Check Out These Incredible Paintings By Prince Philip

Check Out These Incredible Paintings By Prince Philip   Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh was more than a consort to HM and husband to the Queen, he was also a painter who was highly interested in art, design, and painting.     This might ring a bell because his son, Prince Charles, has had several paintings regularly exhibited in art and society exhibitions in London, probably plucking inspiration from his father, who would paint as a hobby (which you might also know if you’ve watched The Crown).     Philip has had a life-long interest both as a patron, collector and as an artist himself. There is one of his oil paintings of Duat Castle from the Sound of Mull in the Western Isles in the exhibition, but his paintings have been rarely seen – until now.
