The kidnap of Amos Ogbonnaya, of a former Coordinator of Anuagata Development Centre, in the Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State by hoodlums, on Thursday evening, has continued to generate mixed reactions from various segments of the state.
The
PUNCH reports that the development has degenerated into some sort of accusations and counter-accusations from the Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressives Congress and and other politicians.
The victim, a key leader of the G64 group, had appeared on television programme last week and kicked against the policies of Governor Dave Umahi. He was said to have been abducted on his way back from a Parents Teachers Association meeting, that took place at Government College, Okposi, in Ohaozara council area of the state.

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Housing, Uche Okah, is dead.
Ukah reportedly died on Friday at a hospital in Abuja, where she was receiving treatment over an undisclosed illness.
Governor David Umahi on Saturday commiserated with the husband of the deceased, Celestine Okah, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Francis Nwaze.
Umahi described the late Okah as a dependable ally in the success story of Ebonyi State under his administration.

Policeman missing as gunmen attack station in Ebonyi

A policeman attached to the Abaomege Police Station in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has been declared missing following an attack on the station by gunmen on Saturday night.
Sources in the area told our correspondent that the gunmen attacked the station around 8pm.
Our correspondent gathered that another police officer on duty during the attack was seriously injured and had been hospitalised.
A Technical Assistant to Governor David Umahi who hails from the area confirmed the attack on the telephone.
The goverment official, who pleaded anonymity, said the injured officer had been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Abakaliki for treatment.

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, on Friday, attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission, for announcing the dates of 2023 general elections amidst the security challenge facing the country.
The Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, had on Wednesday, announced at a one-day public hearing on the National Electoral Offences Commission (Establishment) Bill 2021, organised by the Senate Committee on INEC that the 2023 presidential election would be held on February 23, 2023.
Umahi, who spoke while handing over vehicles procured by the state government to the security agencies and the Ebube-Agu, South-East security outfit at the Governor’s Lodge, Abakaliki, said it was unfortunate that the electoral umpire was talking about the election when the country was at a crossroads.
