A Syrian Rebel Group that was linked to alqaeda says it shot down a russian fighter plane in northern syria, killing the pilot. The militants said the attack was in retaliation for a russian bombing campaign. Russias Defence Ministry said the pilot ejected from the aircraft but was killed on the ground by the rebels in idlib province. Sarah corker reports. The burning wreckage of what looks like a russian fighterjet, red stars clearly visible on the wing. This footage posted online appears to show the plane being hit and bursting into flames in a rebel held area of north west syria. Jihadist group Hayat Tahrir Al sham, formally linked to alqaeda, said it had shot the plane down with a surface to air missile.
