and justice for all, regardless of one s social status, wealth or background. and these words of wisdom came from his own personal experience. he was the child of a black jamaican woman and a white plantation overseer. and from an early age, he knew the experience of being ostracized and shunned. but rather than fighting back with violence, he chose the medium of ray gay because, as he once said, one good thing about music is when it hits you, you feel no pain. such was his influence that during one of the most acrimonious periods in jamaican politics in 1978, marley persuaded the leaders of two warring political parties, edward ciaga and michael manually to join hands on stage in what came to be known as the one love peace concert . it was an unforgettable moment. but little did he know that just three years later and in the prime of his career, his life would be cut short by cancer.
