A study found that SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the coronavirus pandemic, is no longer infectious on copper within 4 hours, whereas it can survive on plastic surfaces for 72 hours.   Copper has many applications in hospitals and other places where germs are likely to spread.

Opioid Forum Set for Tuesday in Yakima Opioids have impacted many lives in the Yakima Valley. Many have died of overdoses. 65 people have died of overdoses in Yakima County so far this year. 49 in all of last year. The impact of opioids on the Yakima Valley is the title of a special public zoom forum hosted by regionally- and nationally-recognized experts. The forum starts at 10:00 a.m. on the Safe Yakima Valley Facebook page and zoom. The panelists include Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice.
