The Hillsborough and Pinellas county Republican parties have recommended voters retain some of lawyers' lowest-rated judges on the state appeals court and get rid of the highest-rated, including the only one to score 90% approval on a Florida Bar poll. The parties' decision appears to center on who nominated the judges for office, not on their performance.
Of the seven Fourth District Court of Appeals judges up for a retention vote this year, the Sun Sentinel recommends retaining five and removing one. We take no position on the seventh.
