A minimum of 5.92 million primary and secondary students are at risk of learning loss since the Covid-19 pandemic has closed educational institutions for more than a year.
Of them, 3.42 million are primary school students, and 2.50 million are secondary school students, amounting to 19 percent of primary students and 21 percent of secondary students in the country, said the study.
Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC) and BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) unveiled the results of a joint survey.
The survey said that out-of-pocket education expenditure rose 11 times for rural families and 13 times for urban poor families.
