DidikTV: It will be better

NEW endeavours do not come without its set of challenges – this is a given. But if the project involves a channel dedicated to the broadcasting of educational content in the country, necessary steps must be taken to ensure it is delivered well. In the days leading up to its launch on Feb 17, DidikTV Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) received much hype. Unfortunately, its first broadcast received just as much criticism and flak, too, from the public. An 88-second video clip of teacher Rafidah Rahmat’s science lesson on the reproductive system went viral not only for her weak command of the English language, but for factual inaccuracies as well.

Before DidikTV, there was ETV

Only the best: ETV former head V.V. George says it is crucial to have qualified people onboard. LONG before the birth of DidikTV, the country had a similar programme that ran for over three decades. Education Television, or better known as ETV and TV Pendidikan in Bahasa Malaysia, pioneered educational television programmes in the country upon its launch on June 19,1972. ETV former head V.V. George recounted the strenuous days and efforts his team put into ensuring all students in the country had equal access to quality education. The primary aim of ETV, he told StarEdu, was to reach out to students in rural schools.

The DIS f$%&@d up my life | The Patriot On Sunday

Open letter to President Eric Masisi I hope this letter finds you well Mr. President. I have no desire for political mileage let alone any vested interests to be involved in politics in any way, now or in the future. For the record, I abhor politics with a passion. The Directorate of Intelligence Services has f &%^$d up my life. Please excuse my untidy phrasing throughout this letter, I have really run out of phrases that truly describe the unfortunate position I find myself in. In the beginning I was scared. I couldn’t sleep for days. I guess my perilous journey at the mercy of this fearful organisation and its equally feared Director General has quickly evaporated any form of fear in me. Even lawyers fear him.
