ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) will be held on January 4 to take the decision regarding opening of schools in the country in the wake of the second Covid-19 wave. The meeting, which will be headed by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood and attended by all provincial education ministers, will discuss the spike in coronavirus cases in the country as well as the opening of educational institutions. The meeting will also consider reducing winter and summer vacations. In addition, the new academic year 2020-21 will be considered to start in August 2021 and the national education policy will also be considered.

The education ministry had been formulating the National Education Policy 2021 according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan with an aim to bring uniformity in the education system.  Speaking about the initiative, Mahmood stressed the need to formulate a “formal education policy in the country, saying the consultation process was being kick-started on his directions.
