BOSTON In a week where students across Massachusetts will sit for state-required standardized tests, a newly formed coalition of education organizations will step into the arena and throw its support behind the controversial exams against a backdrop.
The pro-MCAS coalition, Voices for Academic Equity, was convened by Education Reform Now Massachusetts and made up of a dozen education organizations and partners, the group said in a release.
A new coalition called The Voices For Academic Equity, which includes influential groups including Teach for America Massachusetts, announced a campaign to continue backing the state's standardized test with a new report, saying its benefits far outweigh possible flaws. This follows recent calls to eliminate the MCAS.
