Upstate NY school board president resigns after Capitol riot comments on Facebook Updated Jan 13, 2021; Facebook Share An Upstate New York school board president has resigned after making false comments about the U.S. Capitol riot on Facebook. “While I certainly don’t agree with what went on in the Capital today, it is notable that the protesters are leaving peacefully, nothing is burning, no cars of innocent people have been targeted, no businesses have been looted, and no police are being spit on. Just my observations,” wrote Trumansburg Central School District Board of Education President Scott Sherwood. The Ithaca Journal reports the Facebook post sparked hundreds of comments and a petition calling for his resignation.
