This day in 1971, the Pakistan occupation forces surrendered to the Bangladesh-India allied forces at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka after a nine-month war of independence. Marking the day, the nation pays profound homage to the brave sons who laid down their lives for the country’s independence. The celebration of Victory Day has a different dimension this year as the day will be celebrated in the ‘Mujib Barsho,’ the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
