A statement issued online by Al Shabiba said, “The Sultanate’s Cultural Attaché in Kuala Lumpur said that the Malaysian government cancelled the LOU that was required for traveling to Malaysia, starting from May 2021, when it was submitted to the Malaysian Embassy in Muscat.” “Travel Authorization through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) is still required of students before traveling to Malaysia” added the statement.

Malaysia still a major education hub despite the pandemic

In March, the number of new applications increased by 120% compared to the same month last year. Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) received 3,254 applications compared to 1,473 and 2,654 received in March 2020 and March 2019, said its chief executive officer Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin. And, the number of postgraduate students coming here to do their masters and doctorates from January to March this year, also saw an upward trend compared to the same period in 2020 and 2019, he said.Last year, a total of 1,555 PhD students applied to enter the country in the first three months of the year compared to 1,293 in 2019. “From January to March this year, we processed 2,914 PhD student applications.
