Fire rips through house in Cathedral City Dream Homes neighborhood, smoke seen throughout valley
A fire ripped through a house in the Dream Homes neighborhood of Cathedral City Friday afternoon.
Smoke could be seen from across the west valley, and crews were up against not just the flames, but soaring temperatures as well.
As flames erupted at the home, live ammunition could be heard exploding from inside. No injuries were reported. I was just coming down from the store and I heard a lot of pops and then a lot flames, said neighbor Luki Perez.
Fire crews worked for hours to put out hot spots while battling triple digit temperatures too.

High temperatures remained in the 50s this afternoon. Thermal
tied a record for the
lowest maximum temperature for the date at 59°.
The winter storm has moved off to the east for the most part. It will continue this path, clearing our skies, through the night.
