Edo Inland Dry Port promoters seek improved collaboration The Punch

Atlantique Marine and Engineering Services, promoters of the AMES-Edo Inland Container Dry Port, on Thursday, met with stakeholders and prospective port users in Edo State to seek improved partnerships ahead of the commencement of operations.
This followed the signing of a joint venture agreement between the Edo State government and the firm on the AMES-Edo Inland Container Dry Port, according to a statement issued by the state government.
The Managing Director, AMES-Edo Inland Container Dry Port, Mr Charles Akhigbe, at the stakeholders’ sensitisation meeting at the Government House, Benin City, said the port would improve economic activities in the state and create thousands of jobs for Edo people and many other Nigerians.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration will establish a college of nursing sciences, as part of his administration’s plans to reposition and integrate the state into Nigeria’s medical hub. x
Obaseki stated this when the Secretary-General and Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Faruk Abubakar, led other members of the council to visit him at the Government House, Benin City.
He said the state would begin the process for upgrading the School of Nursing and Midwifery to a College of Nursing Sciences, adding: “We are repositioning the state to become a medical hub. That means that our standard has to be higher than the national standard.

NEPC designates Edo Dry Port as Export Warehouse

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), has designated the Edo Dry Port, otherwise known as the AMES-Edo Inland Container Dry Port, as an Export Warehouse or Aggregation Centre.
The Council said that it would serve as a centre where surplus products could be aggregated, stored and transported in suitable condition to any port of shipment.
Mr Peter Onokpasa, Head/Trade Promotion Advisor (TPA) of the NEPC, Asaba Export Assistance Office, disclosed this on Wednesday at the Edo/Delta Exporters Group and all Exporters stakeholders’ meeting.

Benin, April 9, 2021 The Atlantique Marine Engineering Services (AMES), promoters of the AMES-Edo Inland Container Dry Port, has disclosed that it projected a standard gauge rail for the port.
Dr Charles Akhigbe, MD/CEO of AMES, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Benin, that the rail line was significant to the project meant for transport infrastructure.
He explained that the Federal Government had already paid for the feasibility plan for the rail and the projection was made for standard gauge rail.
He also disclosed that the Edo Government had approved the reconstruction of the road leading to the dry port while a rail connection from Agbor in Delta State was also in the offing.
