While looking for a Missouri State Fair story last week, I wandered through the Rabbit Building. It happened to be the day before rabbit show judging began, so I found a few livestock exhibitors working with their families to prepare their rabbits. I asked Molly Strozewski a few questions, and as luck would have it, her family lives in Lincoln. We interview people from all over the state, but it’s always nice to spotlight our West Central Missouri exhibitors. She was so sweet and really showed how much effort she puts into caring for her rabbits. Imagine my surprise a few days later when I saw her pen of rabbits was named the Grand Champion! I’m running out of days at the Missouri State Fair, and on Thursday, I still hadn’t gotten the last food item on my fair food list: ice cream at the Gerken Dairy Center. I hadn’t eaten lunch yet, but I figured it’s fair time – why not eat dessert first? As I made my way into the building, the menu signs reminded me the dairy center offers more than just desserts. So I changed my lunch plans and ordered a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream in a cup and a grilled bacon mac and cheese sandwich. Why a bacon mac and cheese sandwich?
