This is how Ram introduces the 1500 Night Edition - with burnouts!
While we have previously had to make do with the last generation of Ram pickups in this part of the world, that is about to change with the local release (‘remanufactured’ into RHD format, of course) of the ‘small’ 1500, complete with a newly electrified powertrain.
The 5.7-litre Hemi V8 is still the star of the show (no need for anti-greenie pitchforks please), making 291kW and 556Nm, but now benefits from a belt-drive motor generator unit with a 48-volt battery pack, which offers a cleaner, faster stop/start function, short term torque-assist and regeneration through braking.

All-new RAM DT-series pick-up truck pitched directly at Chevrolet Silverado, from $115K
RAM Trucks Australia has pitched its new-generation DT-series RAM 1500 pick-up truck directly at the Chevrolet Silverado, setting a $115K entry price that’s almost line-ball with its crosstown rival.
Starting at $114,950 plus on-road costs for the 2021 RAM 1500 Laramie Crew Cab, the DT-series line-up is now on sale alongside existing DS RAM models and has kicked-off with three new variants.
As well as the Laramie, which is just $960 more expensive than Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium that starts at $113,990 plus ORCs, the DT-series RAM 1500 is also available as a Limited and a Limited Launch Edition Crew Cab, both priced at $139,950 plus ORCs.
