The mayoral seat in Edison, New Jersey, is up for grabs, and a handful of people, including three Indian Americans, are seeking the position. Tap into Edison reports that five individuals have expressed interest in screening before the Edison Democratic Organization for mayor. Referencing sources close to EDO, the individuals expressing interest include Councilman Sam Joshi, former Councilwoman and Board of Education member Sapana Shah, and current EDO chair Mahesh Bhagia. Additionally, Councilman Joe Coyle and Councilman and former Edison Board of Education member Richard Brescher have shown interest. The winner of the screening process will receive the endorsement of the EDO and have the organization line, the Tap into Edison report said.

The MARC (McCusker, Anselmi, Rosen & Carvelli P.C.) Law Firm in Florham Park began serving as board counsel at $155 an hour on Feb. 1. Their contract runs through Jan. 31, 2022. The firm replaces Busch Law Group LLC, which voluntarily stepped aside in December. The firm had served as counsel for several years, non-consecutively. The Inglesino, Webster, Wyciskala & Taylor LLC Law Firm in Parsippany began serving as special counsel in the area of special education for the district at $160 an hour on Feb. 1. Their contract runs through Jan. 31, 2022.

Edison Public Schools will transition back to in-person hybrid model March 1 EDISON – Amidst ongoing COVID-19 safety concerns in the community, the Edison Public School District has pushed the date to transition back to its in-person hybrid instructional model to March 1. “We believe that is the best course of action,” Schools Superintendent Bernard Bragen said, adding the decision was in consultation with the Edison Department of Health and Edison Board of Education (BOE). The district transitioned to fully remote learning on Dec. 7 due to rising cases of the coronavirus. Hybrid in-person learning began on Oct. 19. Bragen announced the decision at a BOE meeting on Jan. 26. He sent correspondence to parents and guardians on Jan. 27.
