As warm weather coupled with the end of stay-at-home orders in Scotland drew thousands of people to the Meadows on Saturday, footage showed groups of young men fighting in various brawls. One youngster appeared to be hit from behind with a glass bottle, leaving a gash on his neck, as police officers rushed to contain the violence, tackling several individuals to the ground.

Police were called to deal with large crowds in different locations across Scotland yesterday, after reports of violence, antisocial behaviour and drinking. Hundreds gathered in the Meadows on Saturday afternoon as the city enjoyed warm weather and the stay-at-home order came to an end. But police were called to a number of incidents over the course of the day after mass brawls broke out among groups of young people. So far three people have been charged in connection with anti-social behaviour and a serious assault. The police federation said an officer was injured in the violence. Footage circulating on social media captured fights breaking out after thousands of young people gathered in the sunshine.

The officer reportedly sustained a facial injury after hundreds gathered in the Meadows on Saturday afternoon as the Scottish capital enjoyed warm weather and the stay-at-home order came to an end. Footage shared on social media showed groups of young men fighting each other, with one being struck by a bottle. Officers can also be seen tackling people to the ground in the clips.
