As the first semester of the 2020-21 school year draws to a close, Edgecombe County Public Schools Superintendent Valerie Bridges reflected on the challenges that COVID-19 has posed for the school district and the hope she has for the future despite these challenges.
The school district has been affected by COVID-19, though Edgecombe County Public School officials say that effect is lessening somewhat. So far, 14 students who have been attending school in person have tested positive for the virus. In addition, 33 teachers have tested positive for the coronavirus.
âThe number of teachers testing positive has actually decreased over the past few weeks,â said Susan Hoke, communications & community relations coordinator for the school district.
