Six60 have made their history at Eden Park - and they ve done it with a smile and before a crowd with an electric atmosphere despite intermittent showers. What s up New Zealand? We are finally here , SIX60 lead singer Matiu Walters told the crowd as the band went on stage at 8.30pm. We did it New Zealand. We are the first band to play Eden Park.

Eden Park thanks Auckland councillors for their supposed support for concerts at the venue, offering them free hospitality to watch the first concert. But the invite hasn t gone down well with some, as Matthew Scott reports. An offer of a free ticket for councillors to the first concert at Eden Park, by Kiwi super group Six60, has raised eyebrows for its suggestion Auckland Council played a role in the independent planning decision to allow concerts at the neighbourhood venue. The Eden Park Trust chief executive Nick Sautner invited councillors to “be a part of history” at Six60’s April 24 concert, a first for the venue after a controversial application process which pitted the stadium against some of its close neighbours.

No one had lodged an appeal with the Environment Court as of 5pm today, TVNZ reported.
Eden Park won the long-running battle to hold concerts at the park after a panel of independent commissioners granted resource consent for up to six concerts a year.
