BBB Recognizes Businesses and Awards 11 Scholarships to High School Students

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Better Business Bureau Serving Middle TN and Southern KY recently hosted its Inaugural Big Blue Bash celebration with over 200 business leaders in attendance. During the event, several businesses were recognized for exemplifying the highest standards of ethics. Additionally, eleven high school seniors, 2 of which live in Murfreesboro, were named Students of Integrity recipients. Meteorologist Danielle Breezy was the Mistress of Ceremonies, and Dave Delaney's keynote spo .

Jimenez / Getty Images For centuries, travel writing has been an important part of Black literature, and writers have penned them for a number of reasons. In the 18th and 19th centuries, they did so to chronicle their travels (and treatment) as enslaved people. More recently, others have written intimate portraits of how women of African descent live, work, and love in countries around the world. Here are 12 books written by Black women about their travels from Alabama to the Arabian Peninsula. Some are tales of whirlwind romances, while others recount the racism and xenophobia that abound in many places. Though each book tells a unique story, one theme remains constant: Black people – and Black women in particular –have settled, survived, and thrived everywhere.
