Leni Taufateau, left, was assaulted in front of dozens of onlookers by a Mongrel Mob member during a night out on The Terrace in central Christchurch. He is pictured here with friend Eddy Sunia in their smart dress for Prebbleton RFC, the rugby club where they play together. It is understood police have been working through the list of suspects, eliminating some people from their inquiry and narrowing down the pool of potential offenders. Detective Senior Sergeant Nicola Reeves confirmed police had received a “strong response” from the public, including people who witnessed the assault. “We are confident that we will narrow it down and positively identify the person involved.”
