Timothy Maag sentenced for homicide, arson
He allegedly admitted to dispatchers he stabbed Reina Hillman in the neck
A Carlsbad man who stabbed his mother and set her house on fire nearly three years ago was sentenced to time in prison, Fifth Judicial District court records indicated.
Timothy Maag, 30, was sentenced to 12 years in New Mexico Department of Corrections custody May 5 before Fifth Judicial District Judge Lisa Riley for second degree murder, read court records.
He was originally charged with first degree murder in the death of Reina Hillman, 51. Maag entered a plea agreement with the State of New Mexico in March of this year for the lesser charge, per court records.
Oklahoma murder suspect arrested in Artesia agrees to extradition
An Oklahoma man wanted for homicide agreed to extradition after he was arrested in Artesia Friday on a fugitive from justice warrant, according to court and Artesia police records.
Ethan Daniel Estupinan, 19, of Oklahoma City was arrested Friday around 1:34 p.m. by the Artesia Police Department, FBI and the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Suppression Unit in the 3100 block of Missouri, read a social media post from the Artesia Police Department.
A warrant for Estupinian’s arrest was issued on Feb. 25 by a judge in Oklahoma City for first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon, read a probable cause complaint filed by Oklahoma City Police.
