No one knows what 2021 holds. But we see that 2020 is ending on a less than optimistic note. We are in unchartered territory where restaurants are concerned.
You need look no further than the story of the 110 Grill. I got the news about this new restaurant on Fountain Street in Providence on Dec. 10. It is next to the building that houses The Providence Journal newsroom. Because we left that newsroom in March and haven t been back, I didn t get to enjoy watching the restaurant come to life. Still I was looking forward to telling its story.
But a funny thing happened 10 days after it opened on Dec. 4. And by funny I mean not funny. It closed. The restaurant next to the Residence Inn Providence is now hibernating until COVID restrictions ease, the news release said. But no doubt they need people downtown, too.
