In the scramble for home, they put many of us at risk

I have been reading about the mad scramble for people to return home from the UK for Christmas. I never write to newspapers and try not to vent but I am so annoyed looking at people who are so anxious to come home from a country so badly hit with another coronavirus strain about which we don’t really know anything. These people seem prepared to put everyone else here at risk. My son works in a hospital in London. He has just had all leave cancelled for January and February and will possibly be working on Christmas Day. During the last big outbreak he worked 14- hour shifts dealing with very ill people who had contracted the virus.
