It all seems to be coming up Sounders these days. Their 2-0 win over LAFC on Sunday completed a rare nine-point week and gives them 16 points through six games, tying a franchise record for best-ever start. A win over Atlanta United on Sunday which will be played in front of the biggest crowd since last March would set a new standard.
This one saw Xavier Arreaga score his first goal since joining the Sounders in 2019 and Brad Smith bag his third goal of the year, effectively tripling his career output up until now.

Sounders vs. LAFC: Three Questions
Max Aquino / Sounder at Heart
With 34 matches over just 25 weeks, the 2021 MLS season is packed full of action. Squad rotation continues to be vital; injuries continue to be a theme. Plus, with the regionalization of the fixture list there will be even more matches between powerhouses like Seattle Sounders FC and LAFC.
This is great for national TV. Seattle is on a national network for the fifth time in six games with another FS1 appearance (Sunday, 6:30 PM PT). Back on April 24 Bob Bradley’s side took the only points off of Brian Schmetzer so far this season. Now as the home team, Seattle are the favorites, even if plagued with injuries.
Will Bruin vs. Jesús David Murillo
Bruin bullied Minnesota United center back Brent Kallman, a defender of similar stature to the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Bruin, in the Sounders’ 4-0 season-opening win. New LAFC center back Murillo, as well as running mate Eddie Segura, each give up over 40 pounds to the Seattle target forward. Bruin uses his large frame to create space and opportunities for himself, but especially for Raúl Ruidíaz, who was the beneficiary of a Bruin assist last week.
Cristian Roldan vs. Eduard Atuesta
Roldan excelled in a more attacking central midfield position in Seattle’s win over Minnesota United. Atuesta is one of the best defensive midfielders in MLS and will be responsible for trying to keep Roldan in front of him, a gigantic ask given the amount of ground the Los Angeles native covers.
