A man found dead on New Year s Day in the 7200 block of Burke Road has been identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner s Office as 27-year-old Eddie Rodrigue.
A long-serving Thibodaux Police dog bid farewell to his fellow officers Wednesday during a retirement party held in his honor.
K-9 Vic joined the Thibodaux Police Department Jan. 24, 2013, when he was just a year old. After eight years of service, the German shepherd officially retired Dec. 16, 2020. He was presented a plaque for his years on the force and a cake.
During his years on the force, K-9 Vic has worked with only two handlers, former Lt. Eddie Rodrigue III and Sgt. Leonard Firmin Jr.
Firmin described his partner’s retirement as bittersweet.
“He was my partner for almost five years, and I’m truly gonna miss that,” Firmin said. “I always had someone to talk to that never complained, and he did his job without questioning my judgement. It was the best years of my career thus far. I will truly miss him as my partner. He was fun to be around and he kept me on my toes.”
