Today, Justice David Gendall rejected Quirke s appeal against his four and a half year sentence
A report produced to the High Court in Christchurch, says Quirke was in awe of his career criminal dad.
But Justice Gendall ruled his father s illicit activities couldn t be blamed for Quirke s offending.
He found Quirke couldn t resist offending - and any link with his father was casual.

Eddie Quirke s father, he says, was a bank robber.
A career underworld figure with links to organised crime groups who carried out bank heists and raids on various businesses. Young Eddie, Edward James Quirke, grew up hanging out with his dad s shady mates. He was in awe of their exploits and, when he was bigger, wanted to emulate their lifestyle.
