counts of aggravated indecent assault. for alleged crimes involving a sexual encounter with a woman 12 years ago at his home. the charges happening just days before the 12-year statute of limitations was about to run out in this case. cosby acknowledged ten years ago under oath that he did have sexual contact with the woman. andrea constand, but that it was consensual. at a press conference earlier today, a montgomery county prosecutor said they were able to bring charges against cosby, after learning information revealed in a civil case made public over the summer. we opening this case was not a question. rather reopening this case was our duty as law enforcement officers, with a sworn obligation to uphold our constitutions and to uphold the law. at least 52 women have come forward to publicly claim bill cosby sexually abused them and drugged them. this is a catalyst moment in our nation s history today with the charges being brought forth

this is something that so many of these survivors have waited for for years. and unfortunately, there s so many of the statute of limitations that have run out for a lot of these survivors. so it is a big win for not only the cosby survivors, but other survivors. cosby did not enter a plea. posted $100,000 cash in bail and was taken back to his pennsylvania home after surrendering his passport and being ordered not to contact the complainant victim. today s events giving other alleged victims some relief. for many of my 29 clients who allege they are victims of bill cosby seeing him criminally charged and having to face a trial is the best christmas present that they vfr received. and tonight, bill cosby s attorney says the charges are unjustified. and that cosby will be exoner e exonerated. his next court appearance is scheduled for january 14th. back to you. thank you, laura. today s charges will not
their dealings in preparation for this vote. as you said, accurately, they weren t targeting members of congress. they didn t get the same by name, by name. but nonetheless they were determined to use this to affect the domestic political debate. i find it deeply ironic that the same administration withheld from members of congress secret details of the side deals that it conducted with iran. so members of congress couldn t get the details of these secret side deals that they the administration had struck with iran and the iaea. but the administration was looking at the contours of the debate in congress by spying on israel. when the administration knew they had these communications, they became very concerned. they knew they were walking on thin ice and we know that congressional committees in both the senate and the house are going to be looking into this. next up, the panel s take on the sexual assault charge against bill cosby.
where a former employee who has gone public with her accusations. cosby said the contact was consensual. the defense he has used as dozens of women made similar accusations. back with the panel. kirsten, start with you. he said it was consensual. he also admitted in deposition he had procured quaaludes before drug other women. he admitted he gave this woman benadryl he says. he has admitted to drugging women and having relations with them. and i think that this is, you know, this is very sick stuff, really, when you get right down to it. this is somebody we all know as this beloved figure that we all grew up with who was preying on women up to 50 women. and i think it s also some people have suggested why didn t these women come, you know, come out sooner talking about this, and i would say i think that our attitude toward sexual assault has really changed over the years.
