Manatee commissioners reverse course on firing county administrator

By unanimous vote, Manatee County commissioners have retained county administrator Cheri Coryea.
The move was initiated by newly elected commissioner George Kruse at the end of Thursday’s nine-hour land-use meeting. It came one day after a story questioning his public records appeared in the Herald-Tribune.
Coryea’s termination was not on the agenda. But since a land-use meeting counts as a regular meeting under the county’s rules of procedure, Kruse was allowed to motion for reconsideration since he was on the prevailing side when Coryea’s termination was first discussed on Nov. 19.
