Four people are presumed dead in this happened last week and left many residents the home right before thanksgiving. Denise nakano spent the day talking with a man who helped in that rescue. These neighbors should be considered heroes. Get in there and help. Over the past several days, neighbors have relivid the tragedy of this fire that happened within walking distance of their homes. And i tell them most of them are there because it university is ininterested in them. I tell my students that value of history lies in its ability to see us in a the past in such way that we can reimagine the present and the future. And that perspective can allow us to create a better world than the one in which we now inhabit. And this is precisely the gift that i think our speaker, Michael Kazen brings us to tonight and has shared with the readers of many of his books, such as it biography of Williams Jennings bryan, his place of the political left in American History and most relevantly, his recent study of American Peace activists in world war i. Everybody is coming out of their offices and talking to each other just trying to figure out whats going on. Im kind of isolated on my side. So i ran out to see if anyone was coming out. There was a lot of other people inside the building as well. Im told there was a preschool downstairs. 25 kids were in the building. Were told everybody is safe and everything is okay. All the kids are safe. They are getting ready to go home now. No one is injured. I was definitely surprised. I thought maybe from the movies i watched that something was going to go down really intense. But were just thankful nothing big. Happened. Thanks for your time and thanks for sharing. Deduction to San Francisco filers so we think that its about 2. 1 billion for the state and local tax dedukd deduction a lot smaller, i dont know, 100 million or so in the property tax deduction. Supervisor cohen so overall theres less revenue going into the state budget and the local San Francisco budget for us to then reallocate during the budget process . I dont think that its a direct affect and if you take 2 2. 1 billion out of the local economy, you have to expect that it will affect the local business ability to invest or to expand supervisor cohen to hire. You have to expect that Discretionary Spending would decrease because the cost of necessities is going up and it would certainly affect your sales tax. The effect on the Housing Market and our transfer tax and the property tax as a result seems like it would if anything it would have to possibly drive down prices and just reflecting the fact that most buyers are going to have higher costs to finance and then pay taxes on thes
