In early 2020, Ashton released a new version of La Aroma de Cuba Edición Especial, repackaged and reblended to be a bit stronger than the original cigars. One of the biggest changes is in the wrapper. It’s still Ecuador Havana, but the new wrappers come from higher primings, meaning they grow on a higher position of the tobacco plant. Because of the increased sun exposure, high-priming tobacco tends to be stronger than leaves that grow lower on the stalk.
This corona gorda size reflects the concentrated qualities of the new blend, with intense woody, hickory notes that play off a vanilla sweetness for a long, reverberating finish. It’s made for Ashton Distributors Inc. by the Garcia Family of My Father Cigars.
