Abbott appoints Midlander to state housing department

Gov. Greg Abbott has announced appointments of two local residents.
Midlander Brandon Batch has been appointed to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for a term set to expire on Jan. 31, 2021, according to a press release.
TDHCA is responsible for promoting and preserving homeownership, financing the development of affordable rental housing, supporting community and energy assistance programs, and other functions.
Batch, a graduate of Texas Tech University, is a business development manager for Ventura Management LLC, where he works to acquire mineral and royalty interests.
Abbott also appointed John Shrode as judge of the 358th Judicial District Court in Ector County for a term set to expire on Dec. 31, 2022, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified, according to the release.
